Ali is a seasoned jazz guitarist from Turkey who has distinguished himself by his versatile and eclectic style. Ali has more than 30 years' performance experience, initially as a rocker in Turkey and Germany, then as Turkey's first blues guitarist, and now as a jazz artist. While jazz standards are his passion, he also has a repertoire of Anatolian jazz fusion, including his original compositions. His gentle style on the fretboard has been largely influenced by jazz greats such as Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino and Jim Hall.

With roots in rock and blues, Ali “saw the light” and attended the Berklee College of Music in 2002 and earned his diploma in professional music and jazz performance.

He returned to Istanbul in May 2007, launched jazz guitar in jazz clubs here, initially at Nardis and on to JCs, Alt, Atolye, Nina, 60m2, Molly's and more. He has performed on several cruises (including the Jazz Festival at Sea and Jazz Cruise with Dena DeRose), at Ventana in Big Sur, the Fairmont Copley Plaza and Top of the Hub, Boston, is a regular player at the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons Sultanahmet in Istanbul - and recently performed with jazz pianist Carli Munoz at his club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a student of Pat Martino, having participated in loads of master classes in many locations, including performances at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy.

In January 2012, he kicked off an "Endless Summer" tour of Mexico, the Caribbean (including the Jazz Cruise in late January), South America (including the Lebu, Chile Jazz Festival) and Key West until end of May. In 2013, he continued the tour in San Francisco and Oakland (California), Sayulita and Mexico City (Mexico), Havana Cuba, performing for 2 weeks around the island on the Cuba Cruise and playing the famed Buena Vista Social Club and a one week gig at Havana’s legendary jazz club, El Cuervo y La Zorra.
